It's been awhile since my last post. So far, my graduate student teaching experience is going well. I am trying to do more hands-on activities this year which I think is making it a bit more fun. Last week, I took over full-time, so I am teaching 2 math classes, one math remediation, and 2 science classes. It has been a bit overwhelming with all the planning, but I hope to get the hang of it all soon. Science is a bit easier to plan for because you can discuss topics, conduct labs, and branch off into a lot more directions, than with math. Math can be limited in ways to keep it interesting. I have to get in a full 20 days of full-time, so far I have 6 days down. After that, I will teach just the math classes for a few more weeks. It's been a good experience. I enjoy working with 6th grade much more than 8th grade. 6th graders will still carry on a conversation with you, unlike 8th graders, so maybe I will get a job teaching 6th grade next year.
I went to a job fair a few weeks ago, and most of the employers said they had no positions available. I kinda of expected that. It sounds like they won't know until later in the summer about positions. It's all in the Lord's hands. :) Thankfully!
My sister and her family are in from Poland. I really want to see them soon! Please pray that they start feeling better. They have been sick with colds. :(
Other news, Paul and I will be coaching a soccer team together at our church this spring, so that's exciting. The child who enroll usually don't have a church home, so it will be a good way to witness. That starts at the end of March and ends in June. I'm excited about playing soccer again. I need to brush up on my skills. :)
Well, I should probably get some sleep. I have a workshop tomorrow where I'll be learning about foldables and other requirements for student teaching. I hope to write again soon.
