Great news! Sharon was able to come home yesterday. That is an answer to prayers. :)
I am just trying to make it through the last 3 weeks of school! Just 3 weeks... I got a grade back on a website I developed in my web development class today. Let me tell you. He is so picky with his grading. We are using Visual Studios 2005 for the first time. I love it! Most of the class we have just been plugging in code by code for HTML and Javascript, so not having to go piece by piece and having a compiler that checks for errors is amazing! I love Visual Studio. I wish we could have used that at the beginning. Needless to say, the Visual Studio stuff is very easy compared to creating all the code from scratch, but the "grader" gave me an 80 on an assignment. I was not too happy.
Let me explain. We had to list 4 streets with Visual Studio. The fourth street was to be personalized with our name, so I having the name Holly decided to use Hollywood Drive as my fourth street. Well, the "grader" took off 2 (8/10 scale) points for that bringing my grade down to an 80 because Hollywood is an industry, not my name. Yeah, how picky is that. I sent him an e-mail asking for at least one more point which would bring my grade to a 90 because I did have my name which is Holly (just in case you didn't know) as part of the fourth street. Oh well! I guess if I had the name Amber and used Amberwood that would have worked. I should have just gone with Holly. That would have been more exciting and personal. ugh
Ah.. school. I can't wait to be done. At least 80 is passing! :) Well, I'd better get ready for work. I just needed to get some frustration out.
Update: My professor stood up for me and told the "grader" that "Hollywood and Holly are a close enough tie for me. It shows she really did the work." Yay! :)

Yeah! Glad you ended up with a good day! Talk about frustrating! I totally offended this guy today and didn't mean to at all. I called the Polish consulate in US with questions about importing a car to Poland. I had to call and call because of no answer, I resorted to pressing buttons. Anyways, I spoke polish and the guy didn't understand me and had a distinct Indian accent. Anyways he told me EU info and he made no sense and then told me something about a 60% tax of the value when I import because it is over 3 L engine. I said HOLY COW!!!
Then he got really mad and didn't understand the saying. I told him it meant I was shocked and I didn't mean anything by it at all. I didn't mean to offend. Who knew HOLY COW was offensive???????
Holly, that's terrific that your professor took the right view of things! Your choice showed creativity... you should have gotten 100! But 90 is still very good.
Thanks for your comment! It was really good to hear from you! E-mail me with any questions or any pictures of plants you don't know, when you have time to garden again. Gardening is so fun when you get into it, I didn't know anything about it when I first came here but Tim taught me a lot as his mom has a lovely garden full of flowers, and also I've learned more from books, so I do most of our gardening now and it's so satisfying to be able to know how to do it (on the whole...).
This may sound crazy, but my favorite job is weeding... I just love seeing the untidy weedy areas turn into fresh, tidy, turned-up earth. I have conquered most of our large back garden now... though there are some weeds that I can never fully eradicate, I just have to keep them out of sight and under control as best I can! ;)
I know, it's such a relief to know Sharon is home! She had a bad night the first night with 102 fever, but hopefully she did better last night.
When I was on the antidepressant, I had come completely off sedatives for sleeping, but when I went below the therapeutic dose, I started needing them again as I had trouble getting to sleep.
I am still taking sedatives to sleep but at least I sleep all night now, unlike Jan. and Feb., so I don't have to take one in the middle of the night. So I assume somehow the antidepressant helps my sleep, or at least helps me get to sleep and stay asleep all night. I want to start cutting down on the sedatives bit by bit soon, as my sleep and mood have improved so much.
Isn't REM sleep the part where you dream? I tend to have dreams, at least in the time before I wake up in the morning.
Thanks for all that you've told me! If you can, let me know if you find out anything interesting from recent research about SSRIs and sleep!
I've heard it's difficult to get off SSRIs too, and Effexor is considered to be the second-hardest to get off of. I want to be really careful and learn as much as I can before considering coming off of it in the future, as the results were so extreme. I know that whether I can ever come off or not is in the Lord's hands and He knows best. :)
Hope you have a GREAT day! :)
Lots of love,
Mary
Oh Ivy!!! That's the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Timothy and I are in stitches!!
I just have to write this too. We went to a restaurant the other night with Brenda. Andy, of course, was flirting with the waitresses. One asked him how old he was and then asked when he turned three.
He said "On my birthday!"
Ivy, I am so glad you went after that grade. Rubrics are great because they help things not be so subjective. There are a bunch of rubric makers on the web that make them easy to create.
Hi Mary!
Are bervinas and asslyium the same plant. The blooms look alike on two different ones I have, but the leaves are different. The other thing I was wondering is what part of the azelea is poisionous? I read in a magazine that they were, but I didn't know which part. (Please parson my spelling of the plants.)
Elisa
That's funny, Elisa! Do you have your own blog still?
All parts of the azalea are poisonous! You may be interested in this website about azaleas: http://www.azaleas.org/index.pl/faq.html#poi
Do you mean Alyssum and Bergenias? They can look similar in the flowers, but their leaves are quite different. Another name for Bergenia here is "Elephants Ears" as the leaves are so big. :) Let me know if these are the right names.
Mary
Hi Mary,
I have two blogs. www.down4anap.blogspot.com, which Timothy updates more than I. I started one for myself last week and it is www.homeschoolblogger.com/bandaidfixermommy/
Thanks for the site. I'll go take a look. The people across the street called the flowers Bervinas. The have a ball of little dark-purple flowerettes, like the allysium, but the leaves are different. The bloom looks like a purple version of garlic. (But it is not in the lilly family.)The Delormes gave us allysium that had the plant info still with them. The flowers are the same, but the leaves are different.
Elisa
I'm a bit mystified by the two plants you mention. Does the alyssium look like the picture on this website: http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/photo/1056667755000528100PvSing
It's the only website I could find anything about alyssiums, yet I'm sure I've heard the name before.
I've not heard of Bervinas nor could I find anything on them on the internet. Strange! Sorry about that.
Hope you have a great day!
P.S. Elisa, I've copied the above comment to your blog so we can continue any further discussion there. :)
